about

SPDRBB-12

Death Tape Super Bass takes a break from small minimal compositions to make something overwhelming and much weirder. Starting off with dynamic, quick to change, beat driven synthesizer compositions and rhythmic abstracting sampling. Side A draws on industrial, and minimal techno influences. While Side B is moody, dark and challenging. Turning over the tape becomes a decision to engage with dark ambient drones, field recordings, distorted tape manipulations and cut up harsh noise segments.

Sounds of ring modulating, Casio keyboard, excessive panning, audiobook sampling, groovebox sequencing, modular synthesis, mixer feedback, field recordings, spring reverb and single microphone room recordings smash into each other at full force and volume on this tape. Standard stereo image and music theory are tied to the train tracks while Death Tape Super Bass runs them over in a regular and well scheduled intensity on GOD COMPLEX

Influences for this album: Chris and Cosey, Throbbing Gristle, Pan Sonic, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Harmonia, Suicide, Controlled Death, Aaron Dilloway, Wolf Eyes, Scant.
